"A photo might tell a thousand words - but how was it created, and who did it affect?
This screenshot tells a more complete story on how art can be used to ignite conversations on issues that are important and represents the kind of impact I aspire to create with each one of my projects.
This photo, created with a team of volunteers, generated over 80,000 petition signatures to support the creation of shark sanctuaries.
Every year, we kill 100 Million sharks - because of fear, indifference, or greed. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We can co-exist. All it takes is a little bit of interest and curiosity to get the conversation started.
Is it possible to measure the impact of art?
I’m not sure it’s possible, but we can celebrate milestones - and this was one of mine. My first project, dedicated to ocean conservation.
By investing in this milestone, 50% of proceeds from this sale will be donated to PangeaSeed Foundation - a nonprofit that supports artivists around the world fighting for ocean conservation. The other 50%, will go to support a future ocean conservation project that I’ve been wanting to create, but haven’t been able to find the sponsors for.
Buy it now for $100,000 - to commemorate the 100 Million sharks killed, every single year. Or simply bid what you can, and I’ll wait for Tezos to hit the moon before converting it into art."
