"The clearest ocean water I've ever seen was in Teahupo'o in French Polynesia. I will never forget being out on the water, feeling the sway of the ocean waves underneath, and experiencing this moment early one morning. Nature has a special way of bringing me peace.
Islands all around the world like Tahiti are vulnerable to rising sea levels and being completely submerged underwater due to human-induced greenhouse gas emissions. In general, rising ocean temperatures also affect the benefits humans derive from the ocean – threatening food security, increasing the prevalence of diseases and causing more extreme weather events and the loss of coastal protection.
I'm honored to have this photo be a part of the Protect What You Love initiative in partnership with Kalamint & PangeaSeed Foundation to celebrate Earth Day. "
