Artist Statement
"This project is born from my admiration and curiosity for these amazing invertebrate creatures. I wanted to create a voice for Coral, to raise awareness that there is a whole magical world under the water that is hugely important to the life and survival of many marine species, our oceans, us humans, and the entire planet. Each letter represents a different fact on Coral and the geometric lines and particles around them are actually trash bits referring to the on-growing issue with plastic and garbage all over the world. Hopefully, I can inspire you to strive toward a better future for us all. Small steps begin big changes."

About the Artist

Lena Tokens

Lena Tokens is based in the Dominican Republic, although she lived in Ukraine for part of her childhood. She is an international artist having worked with HuffPost, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, Disney, Nickelodeon, Netflix Lat, WIRED, Fortune Magazine, Fast Company, Playboy, Johnnie Walker, Lando Norris and more.

Lena’s style often involves a combination of shapes, concepts and nature. She infuses humorous detail to entertain viewers as well as herself, and she loves to add some aspect of weirdness to complement the humor in a piece. Lena is inspired by dreams, situations she sees and the night, which perhaps partly explains her frequent mixture of the simple with the surreal in her art.
