The Story behind Duality

This interpretation is an environmental context and social critique, highlighting the relationship between humanity and the destructive impact we have on the ocean.

The girl with the fish tattooed on her back portrays a deep and innate connection that human beings have with the ocean and nature in general.

The skull she holds and observes represents the grim result of human actions, such as pollution, overfishing, and the destruction of marine habitats. The girl's gaze at the skull is a moment of awareness and perhaps regret, a painful realization that if we continue to neglect and exploit the oceans irresponsibly, we are heading towards the extinction of species and, eventually, jeopardizing human survival itself.
This work highlights the duality between life represented by the fish and death symbolized by the skull, underlining the impact of the human being as a force that has the power to preserve or destroy.
