My painting titled, Elements, explores the vital role of coastal wetlands in protecting our coastlines against increasingly powerful storms and erosion in the wake of climate change. Utilizing color and balance within my design, I convey an appreciation for our natural world, while underscoring the environmental issues they face with a sense of urgency.
Neon red symbolizes our warming planet, while the tension between rising waves and wetland ecosystems place emphasis on their fragility. Birds and seagrasses highlight the diverse species that thrive here, each integral to the rich tapestry of life that is increasingly threatened by overdevelopment and toxic industrial runoff.
This artwork advocates for the preservation and restoration of coastal wetlands, emphasizing their importance as both storm buffers and dynamic ecosystems, and reminding us that safeguarding them is essential for the future of our planet.
