The Story Behind

Blue Moon

This work, Blue Moon, was created in the early months of the pandemic and is indicative of the macabre events that would come to rattle our understanding of modern existence. This piece was inspired by an earlier work I created in 2019 titled Ocean Blue, which, unbeknownst to me at the time, would become the catalyst for this next body of work and beyond. Painted in deep hues in a darkened palette, this series acts as an emotional deposit of collective experiences and reflects on the disjointing of human stability. These initial works also set the stage for what eventually became the Being series. Like many things in this world that are hard to comprehend—climate change, social unrest, war, migration, whatever it may be—my work attempts to make that visceral connection between the varying moods one might feel on any given day and the uncanny world we all live in.
