Artist Statement

"Hi, Sun! is the name of this work. Two things evoke hope, optimism, and an irrepressible desire to live, sunrise and sunset. They are two moments where everything changes; the light, the environment, the rhythm, the energies, and the relationships with the social environment.

Hi Sun! It is a much-desired piece of work. I had long wanted to work with PangeaSeed Foundation, an organization with principles like mine. Many people don't know that I was born next to the Mediterranean Sea and that everything it represents is implemented in my work. But, there is one thing that I love as much as the sea, and this is life because my work is very active, full of contrasts, chromatic dynamism, and harmonic composition of shapes and allegories that tell a story and a reason in each Artwork.

Aesthetically it is the most balanced work I have done to date, I usually use a fun and frenetic composition of elements, but it was not what I wanted for this occasion. This work reflects how I see the future where the digital and the analog come together in a sea of calm, where all the advances make us a better society, more aware, more united, and aware of the critical task and responsibility we have in the world. And for the world.

A love for everything that surrounds us, where the animal species that accompany us in our lives and in a miracle called planet earth must be cared for, protected, and above all respected.

My work contains two columns that support respect; for respect for being different, for transversality, for equality, for what is new, for what is old, and for what is called for understanding and that I have represented as a circle of dolphins that, as a constellation of stars, will continue swimming in heaven even after we are gone.

It is a beautiful postcard of the future full of vibrant colors framed with a dynamic pattern inspired by molecules and crossed by two palm leaves, providing perspective. Palm trees are vital for me, my life, and my work; they represent plants that are an authentic example of the concept of internationality, fusion, resistance, aesthetics, elegance, and life.

And that is my affirmation in this work, or are we not all the result of many origins and evolutions that have resisted and that care for their environment and society do not dream of a fairer future and connected to natural ecosystems after each sunrise and every sunset?"

Artist Bio

Antonyo Marest, born and raised in Alicante, Spain in 1987, is an international multidisciplinary artist who studied architecture and art in various European universities. With an artistic language seeped in expertise and fixated on establishing a connection with creativity in his work, we find in Art Deco the biggest of his references at the time of representing an inner creative content that, along with a contemporary base, serves as a new generator of content and contexts of a movement that will celebrate its centenary in this decade.

In order to understand Marest’s type of work, which ranges from sculpture and paint to design, we must take into account that, in his growth as an artist, there exist elements from the environment that are deeply rooted in his creative self. To have grown up in a Mediterranean city that is more than a thousand years old, which has also been a harbor of cultures as well as an incomparable city landscape that transforms with sunlight during the day, is something that inspires creativity. It also provides an innovative capacity enriched by the continuous voyages and studies of the environments of the most important countries of the world of Art Deco – countries like France, Morocco, the U.S., India, and so forth. Generated by its originality, his successful works have received international recognition and show that Antonyo Marest is one of the main references in introducing new trends within urban art and new formats of expression in contemporary art.

Within Marest’s works, we can observe abstractions that can be found in nature, such as the irradiation of light beams, the waves, and fluids, the undulating clouds that generate impossible harmonic forms… Elements that incorporate movement dynamics to the outstanding chromatic discourse of his work, where color is the prevalent feature and establishes a conversation that goes far beyond the one that is established with the spectator: a conversation among content, formats, and color and a call to reflection between abstract and formal elements and how, after an elaborate study of color, the sum of both opens to the public in a clean form that allows one to see the content of a work in a brilliantly clear format.

Geometry and abstinence are incorporated in his works and his unmistakable and colorful flamingos symbolize allegories to freedom which all living beings should be able to enjoy. It also shows the way that multiculturalism allows us to grow and evolve in a deeply positive form. In this new stage, Marest’s works are enriched with the incorporation of minimalistic illustrations of fauna, vindicating the vital commitments of being human and the care of the environment, requesting the urgent protection of species in danger of extinction, the immeasurable beauty and grace of wildlife, and the commitments to preserve all life.

Artistic creations that incorporate leaf-shaped elements in a sensual and dynamic way transform into flowers and palm trees that are used as columns and chapiters are laid down over elements that symbolize strength, equilibrium, and the talent of virtuosity. A work of art, with transgressive formats and supports that have a worldwide reputation in several artistic formats such as content design for big brands that put their trust in the incomparable style of Antonyo Marest.

A form of understanding art, architecture, and the world in which we live, taking shape into works of art that transpose to the public harmony, beauty, and reflection.
