Whenever reflecting on the current state of the planet we inhabit, I would be dishonest if I did not mention the sadness that tinges on all thoughts. I would love to enlarge my arms by a million to reach out to all those in need, dig deep trenches between the trees and the bulldozers that are coming for them, and place huge walls around all shores to keep the fishing boats, the cruise ships, the oil rigs away from the oceans.
But then again, within our human arms lays the base problem this world is facing: our constant interference in its ecosystems and our endless grab for resources. Our hands seem to never get enough. We cannot just coexist, we must possess.
Ideally, we learned to use other methods of enjoying life, enjoying the world’s treasures and their beauty. Ideally, we took directions from those who had more arms than us and the potential to grasp at everything they pleased but chose not to.
Ideally, we took notes from other species and to do so, let them be, and simply witness, study, and appreciate.
