The Story Behind

No Blue, No Green

“No Blue, No Green” is a painting inspired by the serene state experienced when sitting by the ocean with the warm sun on your face. It reflects the quiet act of listening to the rhythm of the waves and distant birdlife—moments of stillness where time seems to slow. On rare and fleeting occasions, this calm is interrupted by something extraordinary: the presence of the ocean’s giants, the whale.

This print is intended as a love letter to marine life, and in particular to whales, whose quiet power and grace continue to inspire wonder. Released in honor of World Whale Day, the work celebrates the beauty, mystery, and importance of protecting our oceans and the life within them.

About the Artist

Maya Ripley

Born and raised in Denmark with a diverse heritage, Maya spent her childhood summers traveling across Europe and the mountainous Balkans, experiences that fostered a deep connection to nature and landscape.

A contemporary painter working primarily in acrylic, her work explores the relationship between humanity and nature, often merging the two. Her signature “Wisdom Keepers” feature women surrounded by bold, graphic floral patterns, balancing control and spontaneity. Her practice draws from Balkan, Scandinavian, and American Southwest influences, as well as global folk art traditions.

After living in cultural centers including Copenhagen, London, and Berlin, Maya embraced a quieter countryside life. Gardening, working with horses, and hiking continue to shape her close study of the natural world, which remains central to her art.

Her work has been exhibited internationally, featured in publications, and collected worldwide.
