I was delighted to contribute to the important work of PangeaSeed through my latest print 'Protect What You Love.' By adapting my oil and spray paint technique to explore marine themes, I sought to play with opacity and clarity. Through finger-drawn lines, viewers are urged to look beyond the words and uncover obscured images, creating a visual narrative that warns of the consequences of inaction.
Exploring the urgent themes of preservation and conservation, this print mirrors these concepts through a diverse range of elements—from a Hirst sculpture to Darwinian sea creatures drawn in books. The composition, inspired by the Vanitas style, provokes introspection as our morality is mirrored in a skull amidst retro toys in the foreground, alluding to the balance between memory, physicality, and the world beneath.
'Protect What You Love' is a reminder of the inevitable losses we face concerning both our material possessions and our collective heritage.
