"Reflection" is a bold and energetic illustration exploring the vibrant beauty of Florida's marine life. A lifelong resident of the rain-soaked Pacific Northwest, an upcoming work trip to Florida inspired me to research the vivid and unique natural landscapes found there. The Pacific Northwest and the Floridian peninsula also have the majestic Great Blue Heron in common - a natural link. In the piece, the endangered Triton's Trumpet shell appears at the center of whirling stars, spring plants, coral, and other water-dwelling residents in graphic color, representing the species and the ecosystems they inhabit with vitality, and teeming with diverse life. The object of 'Reflection' is to acknowledge and celebrate the natural world that connects us - the threats they face and the critical need for conservation to preserve them for generations.
