The Story behind Tipping the Scales

This print is based on my mural of a San Francisco garter snake that was painted in 2022 as part of the Emeryville edition of Sea Walls: Artists for Oceans and celebrates this endangered species that is endemic to the region. This unique and beautiful snake is sadly under threat due to a reduction in prey caused by competition with invasive species and human development, and the climate crisis altering mating patterns. The artwork is titled, ‘Tipping the Scales’ as a reminder of the delicate balance that exists between humans and nature, where every action we take has an impact (positive or negative) on the world around us.
