Artist Statement

"The oceans are under attack from humans overfishing, polluting the water, and causing temperatures to rise. I’m a keen scuba diver, and every time I dive, I can see the effects of the human hand: from lobster traps and netting to plastic rubbish floating about and bleached coral.

I’ve created a piece of art to show how wildlife is fighting a war under siege: the armored nautilus patrolling the reef, the hermit crab having to live in a castle, and the hammerhead sharks flying in fighter plane formations. It’s an arms race that the ocean isn’t winning, and I hope and pray for a cease-fire."
