Artist Statement
Now more than ever we are so far removed from the products we use and what happens after they leave our hands. Being so distant from how things get made or where they end up has created a big gap between us and the environment. This gap allows us to use and discard products frivolously, causing a lot of waste and plastic to end up in our oceans. Small actions such as seeking out renewable options for everyday items or refusing to use one-time-use plastics can become a habit quicker than you think. It is our responsibility to hold ourselves and our communities accountable to address our impact on the environment meaningfully. My piece “Wave of Change” urges you to know that sometimes the smallest actions towards greater care of our planet can build into a bigger wave of change.
